The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has disclosed a 15-player squad for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against the West Indies Women’s team.
Pratika Rawal and Tanuja Kanwar have received their inaugural selections for the ODI series, while all-rounder Raghvi Bist has been named in the T20I squad. The BCCI also stated that Yastika Bhatia, Shreyanka Patil, and Priya Punia are unavailable due to injuries.
Notably, Arundhati Reddy, who displayed a strong performance against Australia, has been omitted from both the ODI and T20I sides. The reasons for her exclusion were not disclosed. Shafali Verma, who missed the ODI series against Australia, has again been excluded, which might suggest a decline in her standing.
The India Women’s team will face the West Indies Women in a three-match T20I series commencing December 15, with all matches set to take place at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. This will be followed by a three-match ODI series starting December 22 at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara.
Harmanpreet Kaur will lead the team in both formats, with Smriti Mandhana acting as her vice-captain. After a significant whitewash against Australia, Harmanpreet will seek to guide her team towards a solid performance.
