Directed by Seth Gordon, best known for ‘Horrible Bosses’, ‘Back in Action’ also features Glenn Close, Kyle Chandler, Andrew Scott, McKenna Roberts, Rylan Jackson, and Jamie Demetriou. Gordon co-wrote the action-comedy with Brendan O’Brien.
‘Back in Action’ marks Diaz’s first film role since ‘Annie’ in 2014, in which Foxx also starred. Her return to acting was first announced in June 2022, and she and Foxx began filming the movie in December of that year, continuing through January 2024. Production faced a setback in April 2023 when Foxx experienced a medical emergency that temporarily halted filming. Foxx returned to set in January after his hospitalization, updating fans in May that he was “on his way to recovery.”
This is the third collaboration between Foxx and Diaz, following ‘Any Given Sunday’ in 1999 and ‘Annie’. Diaz is also set to appear in Jonah Hill’s upcoming film ‘Outcome’, People reported.
‘Back in Action’ premieres on Netflix on January 17.
