The two suspects arrested in connection with the assassination of NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique have claimed affiliation with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, according to police sources. The 66-year-old politician was shot dead outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra East on Saturday evening.

The assailants, reportedly three in number, ambushed Siddique at around 9:30 pm. He was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Mumbai Police launched a swift investigation, arresting two suspects, while a third remains at large.

Sources within the police force suggest the two apprehended individuals have confessed to being part of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, a criminal syndicate linked to several high-profile threats, including those against Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. This development adds a new dimension to the ongoing investigation, raising concerns about the involvement of organized crime in the killing of the veteran politician.

Authorities are continuing their probe, with a focus on unraveling potential motives behind the murder. Mumbai Additional CP Paramjit Singh Dahiya confirmed the arrest of the two suspects and assured that efforts are underway to track down the third. The Mumbai Crime Branch has taken charge of the investigation, with police recovering a 9.9mm pistol used in the attack.

The shocking murder of Baba Siddique, a three-time MLA from Bandra West who recently joined Ajit Pawar’s faction of the NCP, has sent shockwaves through Maharashtra’s political circles.
