Elon Musk Voices Raises Security Concern Over OpenAI Collaboration With Apple

Elon Musk, a prominent tech billionaire, has expressed concern over OpenAI’s collaboration with Apple and its potential access to his phone. Musk criticized the collaboration, suggesting that OpenAI’s integration with iPhones could lead to the company accessing his device. This reaction comes after reports that Paul Nakasone, former commander of US Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency (NSA), joined OpenAI’s board of directors.

Nakasone stated that his role at OpenAI would focus on protecting the company from “increasingly sophisticated bad actors.” He also mentioned joining OpenAI’s new safety and security committee. Previously, Musk had threatened to ban iPhones from all his companies if Apple integrated OpenAI at the operating system level, citing it as an unacceptable security violation. He further stated that visitors at his companies would be required to check their Apple devices at the door, where they would be stored in a Faraday cage.

In response to these concerns, Musk is reportedly planning an X phone with Samsung as a partner.
