Indian-American Republican presidential contender Nikki Haley has outlined her commitment to bolstering alliances, expressing her administration’s focus on strengthening ties with NATO and several other countries, including India, Australia, Japan, South Korea, and the Philippines.
Haley voiced concerns about the potential threat to NATO if former President Donald Trump were to be re-elected, stating, “I’m worried about a lot of things if Trump is re-elected. That is one of them.” She emphasized the importance of keeping alliances robust, highlighting NATO’s 75-year success story and its deterrent effect on Russia and China.
Responding to Trump’s remarks in South Carolina, where he suggested allowing Russia freedom in dealing with NATO countries not meeting defense spending guidelines, Haley criticized the stance as “bone-chilling” and empowering to Russian President Vladimir Putin. She pledged to strengthen alliances and broaden friendships, emphasizing the need to stand firm with allies to deter adversaries.
Haley criticized incumbent President Joe Biden, claiming that his policies have emboldened America’s enemies, leading to increased aggression. She highlighted concerns related to Russia’s actions in Ukraine and the Baltics, underscoring the importance of preventing potential conflicts.
In her vision as president, Haley promised to not only reinforce NATO but also enhance alliances with key countries, aiming for America to have more friends on the global stage
