In a recent a man has been charged in Fiji in connection with the alleged rape and sexual assault of a 21-year-old Virgin Australia flight crew member. The incident occurred in Nadi, one of the country’s popular tourist cities, in the early hours of New Year’s Day.

Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew confirmed the charges on Saturday, stating the suspect was taken into custody on Wednesday and is set to appear in court on Monday.

The case forms part of a series of other investigations involving crew members of Virgin Australia. According to police reports, two crew members of the airline were reportedly raped and robbed during their stopover in Nadi. The crew had initially been scheduled to leave the day after the incidents happened.

According to the officials, crew members are not detained. The airline had instead advised the crew members to stay at the hotel. There was no other word from Virgin Australia as it continued its investigations into the case.

Fiji police have still not disclosed the additional details related to charges and the suspect.
