India has recorded 54,87,580 confirmed Covid-19 cases, including 87,882 deaths so far. Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have reported the highest number of cases. However, infections are rising rapidly in states like Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 80.1% which is the highest worldwide.
Maharashtra saw another major spike of 15,738 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The state also recorded 32,007 discharges and 344 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking total cases to 12,24,380 including 9,16,348 discharges, 33,015 deaths and2,74,623 active cases.
The national capital saw a spike of 2,548 new Covid-19 cases, 3,672 recoveries and 32 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 2,49,259, including 2,13,304 recoveries and 5,014 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 30,941.
India’s largest populous state Uttar Pradesh’s death count due to Covid-19 rose to 5,135 with 88 more fatalities, while 4,703 fresh cases pushed the infection tally in the state to 3,58,893. Meanwhile, 2,89,594 Covid-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged. The recovery rate of the state is
at 80.69%.
Haryana reported twentyeight more Covid-19 fatalities in the last 24 hours which pushed the death toll to 1,177, while 1,818 new coronavirus cases took the state’s infection tally to 1,13,075. The active
Covid-19 cases in the state are 21,014, while a total 90,884 people have been discharged from hospitals after recovery from the infection.
Punjab recorded 2 , 2 4 7 new Covid-19 cases, 2,811 recoveries and 47 deaths in the last the 24 hours taking total cases to 99,930 including 75,409 recoveries and 2,860 deaths. Number of active cases stands at 21,661.
Gujarat’s tally of Covid-19 cases rose to 1,24,767 with 1,430 more persons testing positive for the infection in the last 24 hours. With the death of 17 more patients, the fatalities increased to 3,339. Meanwhile, 1,316 patients were discharged from hospitals in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered cases in the state to 1,05,091.
West Bengal reported the highest single-day spike with 62 Covid-19 deaths, pushing the death count to 4,421. The state’s caseload climbed to 2,28,302 with 3,165 new infections. A total of 3,011 people have recovered which took the discharge rate to 87.16%. West Bengal now has 24,898 active cases.
Tamil Nadu reported 5,344 persons tested positive for Covid-19, taking the overall tally to 5,47,337, while 5,492 persons were discharged from different hospitals across the state. Till date, a total of 4,91,971 persons were discharged. The state also reported 60 more deaths which took the death toll to 8,871.
Karnataka reported 7,339 Covid-19 cases, 9925 discharges and 122 in the last 24 hours. The total cases in the state rise to 5,26,876, including 4,23,377 discharges and 8,145 deaths. Active cases stand at 95,335.
Kerala reported 2,910 Covid-19 cases in last twenty-four hours, taking the infection count to 1,38,631. The state also reported 18 more coronavirus deaths, taking the toll to 553.
Andhra Pradesh reported 6,235 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 6,31,749 in the state. The total number of cases include 5,51,821 recoveries, 74,518 active cases, and 5,410 deaths.
Jammu and Kashmir registered 1,036 new coronavirus cases and 23 deaths, taking the total number of infections to 65,026 and toll to 1,024.
