Ramgarh is one of the 200 assembly seats in Rajasthan. It is located in Alwar district. The Ramgarh assembly seat is known for contesting elections on the basis of caste and religion. In this assembly constituency, the BJP has fielded candidates with a staunch Hindu face, while the Congress has been betting on Muslim candidates. The Ramgarh assembly seat is a battleground for Hindu-Muslim polarisation of votes. This results in a direct contest between the Congress and the BJP. In the 15 assembly elections held so far, there have been six triangular contests on this seat. Currently, this seat is under the control of the Congress, and Safia Zubair Khan is the MLA from this seat.
If we talk about the political history of this seat, then Congress has had a stronghold on this seat since 1952. This seat remained under the control of the Congress from 1952 to 1985. However, for the past 35 years, this seat has been going to either the BJP or the Congress. The record for the most wins in this seat is held by Congress’s Zubair Khan and BJP’s Gyan Dev Ahuja. Both leaders have won three times from this seat. Zubair Khan won for the first time in 1990. After that, he was elected as an MLA in 1993 and 2003. On the other hand, Gyan Dev Ahuja won for the first time in 1998. After that, he won in 2008 and 2013, waving the BJP flag. Talking about the current scenario of the Ramgarh assembly seat, there are a total of 270,000 voters. Muslims have the highest number of voters here. There are 80,000 Meo voters. If we talk about the issues of the Ramgarh assembly constituency, then development has always been the main issue here. After that, the water problem is also the biggest issue. The problem of cleanliness in Ramgarh town is also serious. There is a shortage of health facilities in the villages of Ramgarh. If we talk about the claims of the MLA, Safia Khan, she claims to have done historic work during her tenure. The main claims are to make Ramgarh a municipality and to make Govindgarh a tehsil.
