Voting in Maharashtra picked up momentum in the afternoon, with 45.53% voter turnout recorded by 3 PM in the single-phase assembly elections held on Wednesday. Among the districts, Gadchiroli, a naxal-affected area, reported the highest turnout of 62.99%. In contrast, Thane recorded the lowest at 38.94%, while Mumbai city logged 39.34%.

Jharkhand Sees Higher Turnout in Second Phase

In the second phase of the Jharkhand Assembly polls, the voter turnout stood at a robust 61.47% by 3 PM. Pakur district recorded the highest turnout at 69.31%, while Dhanbad reported the lowest at 56.32%.

District-wise voter turnout in Jharkhand included:

  • Hazaribagh: 58.16%

Voting Underway Across 288 Seats in Maharashtra

Polling began at 7 AM for all 288 assembly constituencies in Maharashtra and the remaining 38 seats in Jharkhand. Counting of votes for Maharashtra, Jharkhand, and by-elections will take place on November 23.
