To attract new generations to read books a group of women from Assam’s Jorhat district has set up an open library under trees.

A unique initiative has been set up on the campus of Mariani Girls High School in the Jorhat district.

Meanwhile, the aim to open this library is to bring students to the library as these days students have greater disinterest in books.

Moreover, instead of libraries people choose or prefer the Internet and Google to learn rather than books. It has mechanized people’s way of life due to modern-age gadgets like mobile phones and computers.

To reduce the gap between the students and the library the group has taken this initiative said Dipole Poddar.

“Nowadays students prefer to use the Internet, Google to find out any solution. And the students have also gone far away from the environment. So we are trying to connect our children with the environment by setting up this open library under trees or garden library,” Dipila Poddar said.

However, the unique initiative taken by the women has been appreciated by the locals and school authorities.
