Assam Police apprehended Reetom Singh on Monday, marking the first arrest related to the manipulated video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulating on social media and purportedly shared by Congress members. The accused is under investigation by Assam Police.

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on platform X that Reetom Singh was arrested in connection with the false video involving Home Minister Amit Shah. Concurrently, Delhi Police has summoned Telangana CM Revanth Reddy regarding the fake video case involving Amit Shah, requesting his presence on May 1 along with his mobile phone, alleged to have been used to post the video on platform X.

This action follows the Delhi Police’s registration of a case after a complaint by the Ministry of Home Affairs concerning doctored videos of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulated on social media.

The video, depicting Amit Shah purportedly advocating for the elimination of reservation quotas for SCs, STs, and OBCs, has stirred controversy, prompting the MHA to seek action against those accountable. The BJP has asserted that the video was maliciously altered to defame Amit Shah.
