Bangladesh has formally invited US President Donald Trump’s advisor and technology billionaire Elon Musk to visit the nation and launch Starlink satellite internet services. Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus invited him in a letter, highlighting the revolutionary impact that Starlink can have on Bangladesh’s youth, women, and poor communities.
Muhammad Yunus underscored how Starlink’s connectivity would transform Bangladesh’s infrastructure, with special benefits for young entrepreneurs and rural communities. In a letter to Musk, as reported by Dhaka Tribune, he encouraged Musk to come to Bangladesh and meet the young men and women who would most directly benefit from this cutting-edge technology.
“Let us work together to deliver our mutual vision for a better future,” Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus said in his letter.
He also emphasized that the incorporation of Starlink into Bangladesh’s digital landscape would be a turning point, particularly for Bangladesh’s entrepreneurial youth, marginalized women, and rural communities with no access to reliable internet connectivity.
To expedite the process, Yunus tasked his High Representative for the Rohingya crisis and priority matters, Dr. Khalilur Rahman, with coordinating with SpaceX to make Starlink available within the next ninety working days.
Musk and Yunus Talk About Starlink’s Future in Bangladesh
Yunus and Musk had a thorough video meeting on February 13 to discuss future cooperation and promote the launch of Starlink services in Bangladesh. Yunus emphasized the potential of the initiative to propel national growth and formally invited Musk to come to the country during the meeting.
Musk welcomed the offer with open arms, showing excitement about the project. “I look forward to it,” he stated.
Bangladesh’s efforts to push Starlink fit into its larger goal of digital transformation and the widening of internet reach to remote regions. If actualized, the project has the potential to revolutionize the country’s economic and technological prospects, providing dependable high-speed internet to millions.
