A 41-year-old Malaysian woman onboard a flight from Muscat (Oman) to Kuala Lumpur suffered a sudden medical emergency mid-air, prompting the pilots to request an urgent landing at Chennai International Airport.

The flight, which was flying over Chennai airspace at the time, was granted immediate clearance and landed around 2 PM on Friday.

Medical Response and Tragic Outcome

Upon landing, a medical team swiftly attended to the woman, but despite their efforts, she was declared dead. Authorities later confirmed that the cause of death was likely a cardiac arrest.

Her husband, who was traveling with her, remained at the airport to complete formalities. Officials stated that he is expected to return to Malaysia with her remains on Saturday.

Pilgrim Group’s Journey Disrupted

The couple was part of a group of pilgrims returning to Malaysia. Their journey was abruptly interrupted due to the tragic incident. After necessary procedures, the flight was cleared for departure and continued to its original destination.
