Jordan Condemns Al Aqsa Incursions, Holds Israel Responsible

Amman, Jordan – Jordan has issued a strong condemnation against recent incursions into Al Aqsa Mosque, also known as Haram Al-Sharif, by settlers under the protection of Israeli police. The Jordan News Agency (Petra) reported that the Kingdom holds Israel responsible for these violations, calling them a breach of the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem.

Call to Halt Provocations

Sufian Al-Qudah, spokesperson for the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, reiterated Jordan’s absolute rejection of actions undermining the sanctity of Jerusalem’s Islamic and Christian holy sites. He called on Israel to immediately halt these provocations, which he claimed are incited by far-right members of the Israeli government seeking to impose new realities on the ground.

“The Al Aqsa Mosque, encompassing its entire area of 144 dunums, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims,” Al-Qudah emphasized.

Israel’s Sovereignty Questioned

Jordan firmly stated that Israel, as the occupying power, has no sovereignty over Jerusalem or its Islamic and Christian holy sites. Al-Qudah underscored that the Jerusalem Waqf Department, part of Jordan’s Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, is the sole legal authority managing the affairs of Al Aqsa Mosque and regulating entry.

Jordan’s Demand for Accountability

Jordan’s stance aligns with its historical role as custodian of the holy sites in Jerusalem. The Kingdom has called for international pressure on Israel to respect agreements and stop actions that threaten the region’s stability.

International Implications

This latest development has intensified tensions in the region, as Jordan continues to demand adherence to agreements that protect the sanctity and historical status of Al Aqsa Mosque.
