Israel Intercepts Yemen-Launched Missile Amid Rising Tensions

In the early hours of Tuesday, Israel’s military reported several failed attempts to intercept a missile fired from Yemen, which triggered sirens across central Israel. Yemen’s Houthi rebels launched the missile, marking another escalation in the ongoing conflict. Despite efforts to down the attack, Israel’s military confirmed it likely intercepted the missile, and no casualties or damages were reported.

Houthi Rebels Target Tel Aviv with Missile Launch

The attack came less than 24 hours after the Houthi rebels claimed responsibility for the launch aimed at Tel Aviv. Israeli forces successfully intercepted the projectile before it could cross into Israeli airspace. The rebels stated they had fired a “hypersonic missile” targeting the Israeli city of Jaffa, which is home to the commercial hub of Tel Aviv. In addition to the attack, Houthi forces also launched four drones toward the region. The rebels have vowed to continue such operations in solidarity with the Palestinians, especially following the outbreak of the Gaza war in October 2023.

Ongoing Threats from Yemen’s Houthi Rebels

Since the war in Gaza began, the Houthi rebels have persistently targeted Israel with missile and drone attacks, signaling their support for the Palestinian cause. The Iran-backed group controls vast areas of Yemen, and Israel has responded by striking Huthi targets within Yemen, including several attacks in the capital city of Sanaa.

Israel’s continued efforts to defend its territory highlight the increasing complexity of the conflict, with missile and drone attacks from Yemen adding a new layer of tension to the already volatile situation in the region.
