An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) from Punjab was fatally shot in Amritsar on Thursday night, according to officials.
The victim, ASI Saroop Singh stationed at the Jandiala Guru police station, was killed while traveling along the road connecting Duburji to Khankot village, as confirmed by the police.
No arrests have been made yet, reports confirmed.Upon reaching the crime scene, SP Yuvraj Singh, DSP Sucha Singh, and Station House Officer Lovepreet Singh commenced an investigation, as stated by the police.
Former Punjab minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia criticized the government for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
Majithia highlighted the recent attack on ASI Saroop Singh, emphasizing the government’s focus on organizing large events while incidents of violence, including murders and robberies, continue to surge in Punjab. Majithia launched scathing attack at the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to have shame and address the escalating issues.
