Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt General KT Parnaik (Retd) hoisted the National Flag at Raj Bhavan on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day on 15 August, Tuesday. The Indo-Tibetan Border Police’s Echo Company of 33 Battalion, attached to Raj Bhavan, presented the Guard of Honour to the Flag.
While giving a speech on the occasion, the Governor conveyed Independence Day greetings to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and fellow citizens of India. On the occasion, he remembered the freedom fighters and paid rich tributes to the martyrs.
The Governor said that India achieved its freedom due to the non-violence movement, which was led by the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and also the armed struggle led by Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Rajguru, Rani of Jhansi, Indian National Army, and others. He said that it was the collective effort of both movements.
The Governor said, “India is preparing for its Azadi Ka Amrit Kaal as initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He urged the people to be part of the ongoing transformation and contribute to the development process and progress of the state.
The Governor requested the people to celebrate the achievements of the past and also work out to shoulder all responsibilities to take the state and nation to new heights. He, along with the first lady of the state Anagha Parnaik distributed sweets on the joyous occasion to the participating school children and officials. The Governor motivated the children to work hard, be courageous and healthy.
