A group show of paintings and sculptures by Kolkata based artists opened at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai recently. ‘Unseen Thoughts’ is a showcase of the thoughts and art practices of Indian contemporary artists. The works of participating artists Abdul Salam, Gautam Das, Anju Paliwal, Srihari Dutta, Dasarath Das , Ishaan Kewalramani, Dibakar Chandra and Rakesh Sadhak are being exhibited in an array of styles and in different mediums like drawings, graphic art, paintings, sculptures and ceramics. The exhibition closes on 12 June.

Painter M. Ramalingam’s solo show currently on at the Jehangir Art Gallery is worth a look for its interesting portrayal of women in them. The Chennai based artist attempts to portray women in various patriarchal settings in various shades of blues and reds. The artworks displayed are a combination of both acrylics on canvas and ink on paper. The exhibition is on till June 12.
Women Painting Women’: Unique show on portraits of women
‘Women Painting Women’ is a unique show that currently opened at London’s Catto Gallery. The exhibition focuses exclusively on portraits of women created by women artists. Paintings and sculptures by seven women artists namely Rachel Deacon, Ruth Addinall, Helen Sinclair, Jhuma Sharma Roy, Lucy Doyle, Ania Hobson and Pam Hawke are on display. The exhibition explores the idea of whether women artists bring a unique feminine perspective especially when it is other women that they are painting. The show is open till June 27. Also on in London and not to be missed is RA Schools Show 2023 at the Royal Academy of Arts. 14 artists who have just completed their postgraduate studies at the Royal Academy Schools transform their studios to present new work across a variety of mediums. On display are paintings that appear to be brought to life using digital manipulation and animation, live performances embracing various versions of autobiography through choreography, music, text, moving images and much more. The show is on till 25 June.
