Sangeeta Singh’s solo exhibition, ‘Here Comes the Sun,’ is currently on display at the Jehangir Art Gallery Mumbai. The exhibition commenced on 28 November and will continue until 4 December.
During an interview with her, she has shared insights into her ongoing exhibition:
Q. Tell us about this ongoing exhibition?
A. My ongoing solo exhibition is a collection of works created over the past few years. I have translated my thoughts and stories into beautiful visual expressions. The artworks are a unique fusion of emotions and creativity, reflecting a profound exploration of personal experiences. My creative journey is marked by delightful surprises as I navigate unexplored paths, bringing forth waves of joy and, at times, overwhelming emotions. Broadly, these works convey a singular sense of healing, emotional empathy, forgiveness, and compassion. The inclusion of birds, animals, and flowers as definitive images signifies living entities beyond the homocentric discursive world, influenced by nature.
Q. How many artworks have you displayed in this exhibition?
A. The exhibition features around 30 large-sized paintings and 12 medium-sized paper works.
Q. How much time have you taken to finish this series?
A. This series encompasses works from two different time zones. The majority of the exhibited creations are from this year. Additionally, I am showcasing a few works from previous years to illustrate the evolution of my art over time. The transition from one series to the current one is evident, with recent works incorporating more layers, mystery, and an invitation for viewers to delve deeper and find their own interpretations.
