New Delhi: The Indian Army paid tribute to Late Rifleman Ab Majed Dar, who made the supreme sacrifice on 12 December 2020 at Zainapura in Shopian district. In a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen B.S. Raju, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks paid homage to the gallant soldier on behalf of the proud Nation. Late Rifleman Ab Majed Dar was part of a cordon and search operation, where due to undulating terrain, he slipped and fell down from a height. He was rescued by his team, provided immediate first aid and evacuated to the nearest Army medical facility; however, he succumbed to his injuries.

The braveheart, Late Rifleman Ab Majed Dar, was 44 years old and had joined the Army in 2004. He belonged to Village Nowbuq Chackpora of Anantnag Tehsil, Anantnag District in Jammu & Kashmir and is survived by his wife and two sons. The mortal remains of Rifleman Ab Majed Dar were taken for last rites to his native place, where he would be laid to rest with full military honours. In this hour of grief, the Army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family and remains committed to their dignity and well-being.
