New Delhi: The area in and around Budhal village was amongst the worst affected area by terrorism in Rajouri district. Post elimination of terrorism from region, the area has witnessed slow pace of development and growth.

Despite all odds, the women folk of the area have struggled for education and job opportunities in a not so strong education environment. Success is counted sweetest for those who wade through the odds of life and never give up. Indian Army empowers women in Hinterlands South of Pir Panjal Ranges.

Kiran Sharma, resident of Budhal under the assistance of Indian Army joined Army Goodwill School, Rajouri and studied from class VI to class X. Kiran Sharma completed her schooling from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyala, Kotranka and completed her class XII. Her persistence duly complemented and supported by the Indian Army saw her joining Ayurvedic Medical College, Jammu.

With consisted efforts, she was able to clear NEET and is now pursuing MBBS from Government Medical College, Jammu. Kiran Sharma aims to become an Army Officer and a Doctor in years ahead to serve her country.
