Apple is now providing free repairs for iPhone 14 Plus devices that are encountering issues with the rear camera preview. This problem affects a “very small percentage” of units manufactured between April 2023 and April 2024. Customers with affected devices can seek repairs through Apple retail stores, authorized service providers, or via mail-in service.

To check if their device is eligible for the repair program, owners can enter their serial number on Apple’s service program webpage. Coverage for these repairs lasts for three years from the original purchase date. It’s important to note that this program is limited exclusively to the iPhone 14 Plus model, with no other iPhone variants being eligible.

Customers who have already paid for repairs related to this specific camera issue can reach out to Apple to request a refund. However, Apple specifies that devices must not have any other damage, such as cracked back glass, before the camera repair can proceed; any additional damage could result in separate repair costs.

This initiative marks Apple’s first iPhone service program since 2021, when it addressed earpiece speaker problems in certain iPhone 12 models. Apple advises customers to back up their devices to iCloud or a computer prior to seeking repair services. Additionally, repairs may be limited to the original country or region where the device was purchased, and this program does not extend the standard warranty coverage for the iPhone 14 Plus.
