Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing for a major update to its MacBook Air lineup, with new models featuring M4 chips expected to launch in early 2025. According to The Verge, the refreshed MacBook Air models are likely to be announced between January and March next year.

While Apple is expected to reveal a series of updates to its computer range next week, the MacBook Air will not be part of these announcements. With the recent release of M3-equipped MacBook Airs this past spring, the upcoming models will continue with a design similar to the current M2 version, available in both 13-inch and 15-inch configurations, as per The Verge.

The M4 update for the MacBook Air reflects Apple’s ongoing advancement in silicon technology following the introduction of M3 chips. Reports from The Verge indicate that the new MacBook Airs will retain the sleek, familiar design while delivering enhanced performance expected from the M4 chips.

In addition to updates for the MacBook Air, Apple is set to unveil new MacBook Pros, Mac Minis, and iMacs at the upcoming event. However, those waiting for a refreshed Mac Studio may need to hold on a bit longer. Currently equipped with M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, the next version is projected to launch “after a March software release,” likely between March and June 2025.

Moreover, Apple is reportedly developing an M4 Mac Pro, although no release timeline was provided by Gurman. Alongside the hardware upgrades, Apple plans to introduce a new iPhone SE, refreshed iPad Air models, upgraded iPad keyboards, and new entry-level iPads in the spring.
