The International Chess Federation FIDE World Cup 2023 runner-up, R Praggnanandhaa, and his parents were honored by Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur on Friday for their remarkable play in the World Cup in New Delhi.
Praggnanandhaa expressed his gratitude for the wishes he has received and claimed that it inspires him to put in more effort.
Anurag Thakur, the Union Minister for Sports, praised Praggnanandhaa for bringing honor to India during the ceremony.
Anurag Thakur heard saying, I’m happy for him. He has boosted India’s pride. He accomplished what others could not at the age of 16. He serves as an inspiration for many young people to play chess. Chess originated in India, but it took hundreds of years for the nation to host a Chess Olympiad, which was done well.
