Mumbai residents in various neighborhoods, including Malabar Hill, Dadar, Lower Parel, Kurla, and Powai, are likely to face water supply disruptions on January 4 and 5. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is conducting repair work on a pipeline, impacting water distribution in specific regions.
Civic officials reported a detected leakage in a 900 mm cross-connection between Upper Vaitarna and Vaitarna lakes near Powai. The repair operation is scheduled to commence at 10 am on January 4, continuing for a 24-hour period until 10 am on January 5. During this timeframe, water supply to several wards will be affected.
Areas expected to experience disruptions include southern Mumbai localities like Malabar Hill, Churchgate, and Marine Lines, relying on the Malabar Hill reservoir for water supply. The BMC further announced a 10% reduction in water supply at the Azad Maidan reservoir. In the eastern suburbs, parts of L ward (Kurla, Chandivali) will encounter water cuts affecting areas such as Upper Tunga, Lower Tunga, Marva, Raheja Vihar, Chandivali Farm Road, Saki Vihar Road, and Sakinaka.
Additionally, S ward (Kanjurmarg) will undergo water cuts in the afternoon between January 4 and 5. Residents are advised to plan accordingly to mitigate inconveniences during this period.
