Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh on Monday reported 8,368 new Covid-19 cases, taking the state’s tally of infections over 500,000 marks, according to official data.
The state’s total number of Covid-19 cases stands at 5,06,493 including 97,932 active cases and around 5000 deaths. Total recoveries in Andhra is 4,04,074. The state on Monday also saw a dip in daily Covid-19 numbers after registering over 10,0000 cases per day for 12 consecutive days (from 26 August to 6 September). AP reported its first coronavirus case on 12th March. By 27th July, the state had already breached the one-lakh mark. On 7th August, AP crossed the two-lakh mark and by 18th August it had already reported three lakh cases. On 28th August, Andhra’s Covid-19 cases rose to four lakh. It took just 10 days for the tally to reach five lakh mark. A week ago Andhra surpassed Tamil Nadu in terms of the number of Covid-19 infections and became the second worstaffected state after Maharashtra. Opposition leader and TDP Chief N. Chandrababu Naidu once again lambasted Jagan’s government for Covid-19 cases. He said that due to the failure of Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government, there is a spike in Covid-19 cases. He expressed grief over AP’s ranking in the country in terms of corona cases. On the other hand, Telangana’s caseload stands at 1,42,771. At least 1,10,241 patients have recovered from the infection in the state, as per a media bulletin. The state’s recovery rate stood at 77.2% as compared to that of the national average (77.25%). Hyderabad Metro Rail services resumed operations on Monday in one route from Miyapur to LB Nagar after a gap of over five months following the Covid-19 guidelines.
