Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have set up committees and made necessary arrangements for Covid-19 vaccine distribution. The Telangana Health Department has been put on high alert over the new strain of coronavirus that was detected in the United Kingdom.
The Medical Education Secretary Ramesh Reddy told The Daily Guardian, “Arrangements like setting up special wards in government general hospitals in all the districts, and introducing more ambulances have been made at Covid-19 centres.” He said that those who arrived from the UK and have tested Covid positive are being treated in special rooms. The Telangana government has constituted committees at the state, district, and mandal levels for planning and execution, prioritising high-risk groups followed by others.
The committees would undertake a structured review of all aspects related to preparedness and implementation of Covid-19 vaccination, said a government order. The government has formed the state steering committee, state task force, district task force, and mandal task force. The Chief Secretary would be the Chairperson of the state steering committee while the state task force would be headed by the Health Secretary. The District Collector would be the Chairperson of the district task force, while the mandal task force would be chaired by the Mandal Parishad Development Officer (MPDO).
On the other hand, the Andhra Pradesh government has issued orders about setting up an urban task force to conduct the Covid vaccine distribution exercise in urban areas.
