In a recent interview with Sonali Krishna, the senior editor of Times Now, Jayen Mehta, the MD of Amul, announced that they will enter the organic food market.
When asked about his decision, the MD Jayen Mehta said, that if you produce food without Fertilizers and pesticides. There is a market for it. He further that we will create a market that will offer consumers the option of certified lab-tested organic products at an affordable price in comparison to other organic products.
With this plan, Amul believes that the organic food market will further expand. In which, the producers will benefit. He further emphasized that with the help of natural farming practices, the soil will benefit.
When asked about his vision for the FMCG market or whether he will compete with bigger companies, MD Jayen Mehta said, that in the FMCG market especially in the organic space, more than the competition, collaboration in this market will be more beneficial.
Elaborating more on the collaboration point, he opined that if 20% of the Indian market gets into organic space, the GDP of the agriculture sector will double.

Jayen Mehta revealed that the goal is to become the 5th largest dairy globally by 2026. Which now holds the 8th position as the largest processor of milk. Gradually, they plan to climb towards the position of Number 1.
