Jammu police said on Saturday that they had detained two people in connection with the ongoing manhunt for fugitive Amritpal Singh, who has eluded police for the eighth day in a row.

On March 18, Punjab Police launched an investigation into Amritpal and his associates. According to the police, Amrik Singh, a resident of RS Pura, and his wife Paramjit Kour were detained for allegedly having connections with Papalpreet Singh, a key aide to Amritpal Singh.

The accused were later handed over to Punjab police, according to a Jammu police officer. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand has issued a warning about the possibility of pro-Khalistan preacher Amritpal Singh entering the state, according to Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) V Murugesan on Saturday morning.

Murugesan also stated that he had received information from the Punjab Police that the Khalistan supporter who fled Punjab may enter Uttarakhand through Haryana.

He told the media that checks and monitoring are being conducted, and that an alert has been placed in all possible locations. According to the police official, the district police have also been notified, and the border has been placed on high alert.

An alert was issued in the Uttarakhand districts of Dehradun, Haridwar, and Udham Singh Nagar on Friday as a precaution due to the possibility of Amritpal Singh entering the state.

On Friday, teams from the Delhi Police and the Punjab Police launched a search for Amritpal Singh in Delhi and along its borders in anticipation of him entering the national capital.
