A Special Day for Fans
October 11 is a significant day for Amitabh Bachchan‘s fans, as it marks the actor’s birthday. This year, he celebrates his 82nd birthday. Fans have gathered outside his residence, Jalsa, in Mumbai, to share in the joy of this special occasion. Interestingly, Bachchan celebrates a second birthday on August 2, a fact that holds deep emotional significance.
The Story Behind His Second Birthday
Amitabh Bachchan was born on October 11, 1942, in Allahabad, to the renowned poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. His second birthday stems from a life-altering incident during the filming of Coolie in 1982. During a critical action scene directed by Manmohan Desai, a misjudged punch from his co-star Puneet Issar resulted in a near-fatal injury. Bachchan lost consciousness and was rushed to St. Philomena’s Hospital in Bengaluru for emergency surgery.
Following the accident, doctors declared him ‘clinically dead’ due to severe abdominal bleeding. After hours of intensive care, they managed to revive him with an adrenaline injection on August 2, 1982. This miraculous recovery led to him celebrating August 2 as his second birthday, and the climax of Coolie was rewritten in light of this incident.
