CHANDIGARH: The Centre is ready to resolve all grievances of farmers in order to end the deadlock between them and the government. This assurance was given by Union Home Minister Amit Shah when a delegation of the senior Punjab BJP leaders led by state president Ashwani Sharma on Sunday called on him and Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar in New Delhi.

In a statement, Ashwani Sharma lauded the role of Punjab farmers in the past, but regretted that their plight had been deteriorating over the years. The three farm laws would usher in a new era of agriculture reforms and would go a long way in improving their plight, he added.

Sharma said that the Centre was ready to address every fear and apprehension of farmers on the three farm laws bills and hoped that farmers would soon withdraw their protest. He said the BJP would always stand by farmers and protect their interests in all circumstances.

The delegation also discussed the present political scene in Punjab in view of the upcoming municipal elections in the state. Sharma was accompanied by Union Minister of State Som Parkash, Punjab BJP in-charge MP Dushyant Gautam, state organisational General Secretary Dinesh Kumar and General Secretary Subhash Sharma.
