Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the Congress was not going to win even 40 seats in the parliamentary polls and its leader Rahul Gandhi will have to take out a “Congress Dhundo Yatra” after the June 4 results.

Claiming that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has already got a majority with more than 270 seats in the four phases of elections so far, Shah urged the voters to give 400 seats to the BJP after the fifth, sixth and seventh phases of the elections.

Pointing out that the “shehzada” (prince) of the Congress, “Rahul baba” (Rahul Gandhi), had taken out the “Bharat Jodo Yatra”, the senior BJP leader said, “After June 4, Rahul baba will have to take out the ‘Congress Dhundo Yatra’. The Congress will not be seen even with binoculars.”

Addressing a poll rally here in support of BJP candidate from Hisar, Ranjit Singh Chautala, the Union home minister said, “Mark my words, when results will be out on June 4, Rahul baba will head for vacation on June 6.”

Shah claimed that Modi’s “Vikas ka Kamal” is blooming everywhere in Haryana.

“On the one hand, there is Rahul Gandhi who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, while on the other, there is Narendra Modi who was born in a poor family. Also, during the Congress rule, scams worth Rs 12 lakh crore took place, while under Modi, who also served as the Gujarat chief minister for years, no one could level an allegation of corruption involving an amount of even ’25 paise’ on him. Now, you (voters) have to decide between the two,” Shah told the gathering.

He alleged that the Congress wants to win the elections on the basis of lies. “They (Congress) are saying that Modi ji will end reservation if he gets 400 seats. I am saying today, we will not let it happen till the BJP has even a single MP,” said Shah.

He also said: “The Congress has given reservation to Muslims. Give us 400 seats, the BJP government will end this unconstitutional reservation.”

Stating that Rahul Gandhi has said that they will bring back triple talaq, Shah asked the crowd: “Do you want triple talaq back?” Making a direct contact with the gathering, the Union home minister said: “Tell me the residents of Hisar; whether Ram Temple should have been built or not? Tell me loudly whether it should have been built or not?” The crowd responded with an emphatic, “Yes…yes.”

He said: “The Congress kept the Ram Temple issue pending for 70 years, while the Modi government within five years after winning the second term won the case in the court, performed Bhoomi Poojan and Pran Pratisha too.”

He also blamed Rahul Gandhi, senior Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi for not attending the Ram Temple inaugural event because of “vote politics”.

Again making a direct contact with the crowd, Shah asked: “Whether Kashmir is ours or not? Tell loudly. Whether Article 370 should have been revoked or not? The Congress kept Article 370 for 70 years, while Modi ji after coming to power revoked it making Kashmir a part of India forever.” Blaming the previous Congress governments for being “soft” on terrorist activities, Shah alleged that the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh never used to utter a word when “every day terrorists used to enter India from Pakistan”. But the Modi government carried out surgical and airstrikes and eliminated terrorists in Pakistan in reply to the Uri and Pulwama terror attacks, Shah added.

Taking on senior Congress leader and former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, the Union home minister said: “Hooda sahib; what have you done? You were the ‘darbari of damad’ (Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra). The Congress hand is with Delhi’s son-in-law and the people of the country remain empty-handed during its rule.”

While referring to change of power in Haryana in 2014, Shah said, “The previous Congress regime in Haryana was a government of ‘darbari, damad and dealers’ which has been replaced by a government of public welfare.”

He added, “After Modi became PM and following the formation of the BJP government in Haryana, each of the poor has a ‘pakka makan’, toilet, and gas cylinder. They have drinking water. There is development everywhere. The farmers’ welfare is taken care of.”

Referring to Haryana’s services to the nation – contributing to its food needs, its soldiers safeguarding the borders and sportspersons bringing laurels for the country – Shah said the state has taken the nation forward in all the three fields.

Seeking to puncture the Opposition’s claim that there has been no development here in the last 10 years, he said Haryana has emerged as one of the fastest-developing states in this period with an 8 per cent economic growth.

“Haryana collects the maximum GST (Goods and Services Tax) per capita and is at the top in ease of doing business,” he said. Every second car in the country is manufactured in Haryana, Shah added. He also addressed poll rallies in Karnal and Jhajjar. About M L Khattar, who was replaced by Nayab Singh Saini as the CM (Haryana) in March, Shah said the former was on the top post for 10 years and the BJP has now decided that he will serve the nation and the party in Delhi. The Lok Sabha poll results are scheduled to be declared on June 4.
