The second wave in Ahmedabad proved to be fatal. People had to stand in lines to get facilities including beds and oxygen for treatment. The situation is under control but the corporation’s health department has abruptly shut down rapid antigen test centres for Covid tests set up in various areas of the city which is odd. In the last three days, 10 of the 35 rapid test centres in the city have been closed. The remaining 25 centres will also be closed in the near future, as per reports.
10 centres have been closed including Vastrapur Lake, the centre at Paldi Tagore Hall and the East Zone. Municipal Corporation Sources said that the remaining 25 out of 35 centres will also be closed during the next week and arrangements for testing will be continued at the Urban Health Center in eight zones of the city. That is, one centre will be continued in one zone. According to sources, the Rapid Antigens Testing Center has been forced to close as barely 10 citizens come for the test every day.
Preparations are being made by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for a possible third wave of Covid. It has been decided in the meeting of the standing committee. A 250 and 500-litre capacity PSA oxygen generation plant will be set up at the corporation operated hospital and community health centre. Work will also be carried out for the maintenance of the oxygen plant at the site in the near future. Rs 11 crore has been allocated for this work.
Standing Committee Chairman Hitesh Barot said the city suffered the most oxygen shortages in the second wave thst led to preparations for oxygen. About 30 oxygen plants will be set up at different CHCs and community health centres and hospitals. His work is currently being approved and will be taken up urgently. This work is being taken up urgently in the standing committee.
Covid cases are stable. Then for the 19th consecutive day in the district, there have been zero cases. A new case has been reported in the city on Friday, while three patients have recovered. On 22 August, only one case was reported in the city. Earlier, three cases were reported on 14 August. No deaths were reported in the city for the 45th day in a row.
At the same time, the number of Covidpositive cases in the city and district have reached 2,38,000 113 patients. While 2,34663 patients have recovered and returned home. The death toll has been 3411.
