Aman Arora, Punjab’s Minister for New and Renewable Energy, has been appointed as the new president of the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) Punjab unit. He succeeds Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann in the role, the party announced on Thursday. Alongside Arora, MLA Amansher Singh Shairi Kalsi has been named as the state working president.
Mann’s Message of Confidence
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared the announcement on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his faith in the newly appointed leaders.
“Today, I have handed over the responsibility of the party president to two of my close colleagues, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and MLA Amansher Singh Shairi Kalsi. I trust they will strengthen the party in Punjab and take it to new heights,” Mann wrote.
In his acceptance speech, Aman Arora thanked AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal, CM Bhagwant Mann, and the party’s Political Affairs Committee for their trust.
“This is a great honor. I assure the leadership that we will work tirelessly to take the government’s achievements to the people and address their concerns effectively,” Arora said.Meanwhile, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal unveiled the “Revdi Par Charcha” campaign to promote the party’s welfare schemes ahead of the Delhi Assembly elections. Speaking at the AAP headquarters, Kejriwal outlined six key benefits provided by the AAP government, claiming they would end if the BJP took power.
Six Key Welfare Schemes Highlighted
Kejriwal emphasized the following initiatives during the campaign:
- Free electricity without power cuts.
- Free water supply.
- Free and quality education in government schools.
- Free healthcare through mohalla clinics and hospitals.
- Free bus travel for women.
- Free pilgrimage for senior citizens.
Kejriwal argued that BJP-ruled states do not provide similar benefits and cautioned voters against electing the BJP, claiming it would lead to power cuts and higher utility bills.
The “Revdi Par Charcha” campaign will include 65,000 meetings across Delhi, where party workers will distribute pamphlets explaining the welfare schemes. Kejriwal reiterated the importance of public awareness about AAP’s achievements and warned against opposition misinformation.
