The much-awaited Opposition meet is scheduled to happen in Mumbai on August 31 and September 1, hosted by former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray which will be a key meet to decide the fate of the like-minded parties for the future course of the Opposition politics, but surprisingly in political corridors of Delhi, the entry of BSP chief Mayawati with conditions for joining the I.N.D.I.A alliance is the agenda of the alliance partners.
Sources have told TDG that former Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah has spoken to Mayawati and invited her to join I.N.D.I. A. alliance meet in Mumbai.
Though the BSP chief has not declined the offer, she has placed several tough conditions for joining the Opposition side.
Uttar Pradesh is the largest in terms of Lok Sabha seats that is 80 which paves the way to Delhi. Mayawati in the last Lok Sabha election tied up with SP. Though she got benefit in terms of seats, the SP gained much out of the alliance.
The entry of Mayawati in I.N.D.I.A. alliance would give a booster to the alliance partners. Moreover, the parties fighting in general elections would not like to see the split of votes against BJP in UP. In the last general elections, it was BJP which had gained almost 50 per cent votes in UP and the rest was divided among the SP, BSP, Congress and RLD.
Alliance partners feel that Mayawati can sway Dalit voters across the country.
