Pacer Jasprit Bumrah who is going through a recurring back injury has received tough remarks on his unusual bowling action by many critics including, legend Shoaib Akhtar.
Bumrah has been out of action in India colours since August 2022 and is expected to fly to New Zealand for surgery.
Meanwhile, he recovered a bit to play two T20Is against Australia, but the back injury worsened and he also had to miss the T20 World Cup in Australia last year.
Following Bumrah’s injury Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar explained several reasons behind it and said, “He has this front-on action and when he loads up before delivering the bowl he puts a lot of pressure on his spinal cord. We used to be side-on, and bowlers like me could take help from our hips, things, from our left hand as well and that used to compensate. Unfortunately, Jasprint doesn’t have that leverage.”
“More training and less matches will prolong his career. He needs a lot of muscle in his back,” he added.
