Giani Raghbir Singh, the Jathedar of Akal Takht, has officially declared Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann guilty of religious disobedience. This accusation stems from the police firing and breach of decorum at Gurdwara Akal Bunga Cantonment Nihang Singhan Sultanpur.
The incident, which occurred on November 23, 2023, prompted Giani Raghbir Singh to form a sub-committee of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee to investigate the matter. After thorough consideration of the committee’s report, the Akal Takht Jathedar issued a statement today, asserting that the facts and statements in the report substantiate serious allegations against the Chief Minister.
The report reveals that the police, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s authority as the head of the Ministry of Home Affairs, conducted an unprovoked attack on Gurdwara Akal Bunga Cantonment Nihang Singhan. The police’s actions included firing, entering the Gurdwara with shoes, and disrupting the ongoing Sri Akhand Path Sahib by releasing tear gas shells. These actions are deemed as a blatant violation of religious decorum, causing deep offense to Sikh sentiments.
Giani Raghbir Singh emphasized that the Chief Minister’s direct involvement in these actions has led to his official accusation of religious disobedience. The incident at the Gurdwara Sahib is considered a highly disrespectful act that violated the sanctity and dignity of the place of worship.
