In a recent development, the Twitter account belonging to Ajit Pawar’s faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra, known as @NCPSpeaks1, has been temporarily suspended. The NCP claims that this action was taken in response to a complaint filed by the senior Sharad Pawar faction within the party. It’s worth noting that following a severe rift within the party in July of this year, separate Twitter accounts were created for both the Ajit and Sharad Pawar factions. While @NCPSpeaks remains the official Twitter account for Sharad Pawar’s NCP group, @NCPSpeaks1 served as the official handle for the Ajit Pawar faction.
According to a report by ABP Majha, the suspension of @NCPSpeaks1 was initiated due to alleged violations of Twitter’s rules. The Ajit Pawar faction has asserted that they have already informed the social media platform, formerly known as Twitter, about the situation, and they anticipate the account to be reinstated by the end of the day.
This suspension comes in the wake of a significant political split that occurred on July 2nd this year when Ajit Pawar, along with 29 NCP MLAs, broke away from the party and formed an alliance with the Shiv Sena (under the leadership of Eknath Shinde) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish the government in Maharashtra. As a result, Ajit Pawar was sworn in as the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and eight other MLAs from his camp were appointed as ministers in Eknath Shinde’s cabinet.
The newly appointed ministers included prominent figures such as Hassan Mushrif, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Dhananjay Munde, Aditi Tatkare, Sanjay Baburao Bansode, Anil Bhaidas Patil, and Dharmarao Atram.
Recent rumors had circulated within political circles suggesting a “secret meeting” between Sharad Pawar and his nephew Ajit Pawar at the residence of businessman Atul Chordiya in Pune’s Koregaon Park. However, Sharad Pawar was quick to dispel these speculations, describing the gathering as a “family meeting.” Supriya Sule, Sharad Pawar’s daughter, also stepped forward to refute the rumors, emphasizing the long-standing relationship between the Pawar and Chordiya families.
“Even before my Dada’s (Ajit Pawar’s) birth, the Pawar and Chordiya families shared a close association, as Mr. Atul Chordiya’s father and Pawar Saheb were college mates. So, there is no reason to be surprised if both families meet,” Sule affirmed.
