Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, leading the NCP faction aligned with the ruling BJP, emphasized the necessity for a comprehensive discussion on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and global recognition for India’s development, he criticized the Opposition INDIA bloc.
Speaking to party delegates in Karjat, Raigad district, during the conclusion of a two-day study workshop, Ajit addressed misconceptions about the UCC affecting reservations among backward classes, tribals, and Dalits. He urged for an open dialogue on the UCC and advocated for legislation on population control, suggesting a limit of two children per couple to ensure sustainable use of natural resources.
Asserting that the NCP won’t compromise on its core principles, including secularism, Ajit stated their commitment to “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” while criticizing the INDIA bloc’s lack of consensus on leadership and a logo. He questioned the bloc’s criticism of aligning with the BJP, highlighting instances where its members collaborated with the ruling party.
Ajit underscored the importance of strong leadership for stability and development, citing examples of countries with weak leadership.
He emphasized the global standing and stability brought by PM Modi’s leadership, contrasting it with the situation in Pakistan and Sri Lanka as potential outcomes of weak governance.
