In the coming days, the election strategist Prashant Kishor is likely to be given a major responsibility to reorganise the Congress in Gujarat where the Assembly elections are slated for 2022. It is learned that a meeting was held between Congress leader Bharatsinh Solanki and Prashant Kishor in this regard. According to sources, Prashant Kishor’s team has already started a survey on the coming elections for the Congress.

The Congress has started preparations for the formation of a new organisation, which led to an important meeting of party MLAs and senior leaders in Gandhinagar. The need to strengthen the organisation as well as make a decision on the Gujarat Congress in-charge and the state president was also discussed in the meeting.

Rahul Gandhi will be the star campaigner of the Gujarat Congress for the 2022 elections. Although no official decision has been taken about Prashant Kishor yet, according to party sources, the Congress High Command is ready to hand over the helm of Gujarat Congress to him. A meeting of Congress MLAs was held recently and a target of winning 125 seats in the 2022 Assembly elections was set. The meeting lasted for about four hours.

The issue of an early decision on the post of Gujarat Congress organisation in-charge, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly, and the state president was also discussed. Meanwhile, sources said that the MLAs have agreed to send a team led by senior Congress leader Madhusudan Mistry to Delhi to make representations to the high command for an immediate appointment to the posts.

After a series of defeats in Gujarat, it has become necessary for the Congress to change the organisation. With this in mind, Bharatsinh Solanki had a meeting with Prashant Kishor in Delhi. The meeting lasted for about two hours. The forthcoming Assembly election was discussed in this meeting.

Prashant Kishar worked for Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the 2012 Gujarat Assembly elections. He also was in-charge of the BJP’s election campaign in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. But after the BJP came to power at the Centre, he switched sides and worked with Opposition parties like Congress and TMC.
