Suvendu Adhikari was relieved in the bodyguard murder case. Suvendu›s lawyer had applied for protection on Monday morning. And in the afternoon, the opposition leader got protection in that case. The Calcutta High Court has stayed three cases including the murder of a bodyguard. The bodyguard of the current opposition leader and BJP MLA Suvendu Adhikari died three years ago. And a new investigation has been started in that case a few months ago. Why no one has opened his mouth for so many days? Why did the investigation suddenly start after three years? That is the question raised by the judge today. A total of five cases were heard against Adhikari on the day, three of which were adjourned.
Why did the CID summon Adhikari despite the case being pending? Adhikari›s lawyer Bilbadal Bhattacharya asked this question in court on Monday morning. The judge questioned the state in the bodyguard murder case. A total of five cases from Nandigram, Maniktala, Kanthi, Panshkura and Phulbagan were heard in the Calcutta High Court. A total of three stay orders have been issued, including a case of bodyguard murder. The rest of the case will be investigated, but the High Court has been asked to take permission to make an FIR.
On the same day, Justice Rajasekhar Mantha asked Advocate General Kishore Dutt in the bodyguard murder case, ‘Is there any special reason? For which the case has to be re-investigated? ’In reply, Kishore Dutt retorted,‘ Why is Adhikari talking about CBI investigation? How can an opposition leader, a legislator avoid an investigation? The judge added, ‘It didn’t take three years to ask anyone. Has the environment changed now, that the investigation has been restarted? The Advocate General replied, ‘Preliminary investigation was underway. This time the real investigation has started. A preliminary investigation is needed into the untimely death.
The judge questioned why his wife did not come forward in these three years. He noted, ‘Arrests are actually used for revenge. This is the norm in this country, nothing new. Nothing happened for three years Not even the wife came. That’s the concern. ’He added,‘ I’m not saying don’t investigate. It is acceptable but we have to see if it is urgent at the moment. ‹
Shubhbrata Chakraborty, the bodyguard of Adhikari, was shot dead in 2016. Almost three years after the case, his wife Suparna Kanjilal Chakraborty filed an FIR in July seeking an inquiry. How did this happen? Raising that question, the wife of the slain bodyguard lodged an FIR demanding a proper investigation. As it was too late to get an ambulance, Shubhbratar died before being taken to Calcutta. This is where his wife raised the question. His suspicion, intentionally the ambulance arrived late that day? Suparna raised that question in the statement of FIR.
The CID started investigating the case in July. The statement of Shubhbratar›s family is recorded. One by one, Shubhbratar›s then colleague and the rest of Subhendu›s bodyguards were called. Today, Monday, he was asked to appear at Bhabani Bhavan. However, he did not attend. Besides, opposition leader Shuvendu Adhikari wants protection from the High Court.
