In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Law and Order, Vijay Kumar, visited the site on Sunday to assess the situation. The attack, which occurred on Saturday evening, left a couple from Jaipur, Rajasthan injured.
Accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) South Kashmir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, and other senior officers, ADGP Kumar’s visit aimed to ensure that security measures are reinforced and the situation remains under control.
The victims, identified as Farah and Tabrez from Jaipur, were targeted by terrorists in the Yannar area of Pahalgam. According to officials, Tabrez has been moved to Srinagar from Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag and remains in critical condition. Farah, however, is reported to be stable.
In a related incident, Inspector General of Police (IGP) CRPF K. Ganender Verma and DIG Alok Avasthi visited Hirpora in Shopian district. This visit followed the assassination of Aijaz Ahmad Sheikh, a former sarpanch affiliated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who was shot dead by terrorists in his native village on Saturday evening.
The visits by the high-ranking officials underscore the heightened security concerns in the region and the ongoing efforts by law enforcement agencies to address the threats posed by terrorism. The authorities have reiterated their commitment to bringing the perpetrators to justice and ensuring the safety of civilians.
