Gautam Adani, the chairman of the Adani Group, shared on Wednesday that Adani Electricity is progressing towards delivering 60% renewable electricity to Mumbai by 2027, aiming to set a global record for a major city.
Adani highlighted that over 38% of Mumbai’s current power supply is already green.
As leaders gather for COP28, Gautam Adani emphasized the company’s commitment to green initiatives, with a focus on achieving a significant milestone. During Diwali this year, Adani Electricity achieved a groundbreaking moment by powering Mumbai exclusively with 100% renewable energy for four hours from 10:00 am to 02:00 pm.
The renewable energy is sourced from Adani Green’s wind and solar hybrid plant, recognized as the world’s largest of its kind. Adani Electricity’s dedication to sustainability is evident in its utilization of solar and wind energy from its renewable energy portfolio.
This commitment aligns with Adani Electricity’s earlier announcement, stating its goal to source 60% of Mumbai’s power supply from renewable sources by 2027. The company has actively collaborated with the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) to ensure grid stability and prevent power supply disruptions.
Currently, Adani Energy Solutions shares have seen an 11.60% increase, trading at 1,208.20 apiece on the BSE.
