Actor Darshan, arrested on June 11 along with Pavithra Gowda and 15 others in connection with the alleged torture and murder of his fan Renukaswamy, has been granted six weeks of interim bail by the Karnataka High Court for medical reasons. The actor, aged 47, sought bail citing numbness in both feet and a need for surgery.

Justice S Vishwajith Shetty stipulated that Darshan must surrender his passport and provide his chosen hospital’s treatment details within seven days. Earlier, his lawyer requested that Darshan undergo the surgery at a private hospital in Mysuru, but the public prosecutor objected, arguing that the surgery could be performed at a government facility and that Darshan’s medical records lacked a clear hospitalization timeframe.

The case stems from the alleged killing of Renukaswamy, 33, whose body was discovered on June 9 near a stormwater drain in Bengaluru. Police reports state that Renukaswamy had allegedly sent obscene messages to Gowda, sparking Darshan’s anger, which reportedly led to the tragic incident.
