Abhay Deol is gearing up to make his Hollywood debut in the upcoming romantic comedy Don’t You Be My Neighbor!, where he will star alongside Natasha Bassett, known for her role in the film Elvis. Deol announced the project on Instagram, expressing his excitement about the film and its nostalgic 80s and 90s rom-com vibe.

In his Instagram post, Deol shared his enthusiasm: “Very excited to announce this project. The script took me back to the classic rom-coms of the late 80s and early 90s. Thrilled to work with the talented @natashabassett and director Harry Grewal.”

The announcement quickly garnered attention from fellow actors. Mithila Palkar, who collaborated with Deol on Chopsticks, responded with a cheer, “Woohooo!” Director Zoya Akhtar also expressed her joy, commenting, “Yay! How lovely.”

Don’t You Be My Neighbor! will be directed by Harry Grewal, with a script penned by David Lamberston. The film is produced by Grewal Films International and Donna Grewal, with co-producers Raman Palta and Payal Palta of Palta Film Production. Jason Cherubini will serve as the executive producer.

In an interview with Deadline, director Harry Grewal expressed his excitement for the project, saying, “We’re thrilled to bring this lighthearted yet thought-provoking story to life. Abhay Deol and Natasha Bassett are perfect for their roles, bringing immense talent and dedication to the film.”

Abhay Deol, renowned for his roles in Hindi films such as Dev.D, Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara, and Happy Bhag Jayegi, was last seen in the Netflix miniseries Trial By Fire, which depicted the tragic Uphaar cinema fire incident in Delhi in 1997.
