The hunger strike of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) against the murder of democracy carried out in broad daylight by the BJP during Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor, Senior Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayor Elections today enters on sixth day. AAP councilors Suman Sharma, Seema, Ravi Paswan and Kamaljeet Kaur sat on hunger strike. Chairman Punjab Water Supply and Sewerage Board and co-incharge AAP Chandigarh Dr. SS Ahluwalia, AAP leader Meena Sharma, Abha Bansal, Sukhraj Sandhu, Councilor Kuldeep Kumar, Damanpreet Singh, Prem Lata, Gurcharanjit Singh Kala, Poonam Sharma, Jaswinder Kaur, Neha Musawat, Ramchander Yadav and a large number of AAP volunteers also joined the hunger strike.

During the hunger strike, Councilor Gurcharanjit Singh Kala said that the people of Chandigarh will never forgive BJP who openly murdered democracy on January 30. It is clear from the comments made by the Honorable Supreme Court against BJP nominated councilor and presiding officer Anil Masih that we will soon get justice from the Honorable Supreme Court and soon Aam Aadmi Party candidate Kuldeep Kumar will be announced as the Mayor of Chandigarh.

Dr. SS Ahluwalia said that no action has been taken yet by administrative officials of Chandigarh against Anil Masih and BJP councilors, which shows that they too are in collusion with the BJP. It is pertinent to mention here for during the hearing on 5th February, Honorable Supreme Court had made a strong comment against Anil Masih and said that in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections, Presiding Officer Anil Masih has murdered democracy by using a pen on the 8 votes of Kuldeep Kumar in front of the camera and a case procedings should be initiated against such people, but unfortunately no action has been taken against any person by the Chandigarh Administration.

He further said that the BJP has killed democracy in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation elections and it has defamed the Chandigarh city in the entire country, the people of Chandigarh will never forgive BJP. The residents of the city will punish BJP for this act and added that BJP is doing wrong politics of getting votes in the entire country.

If in a small city like Chandigarh, BJP can cancel 8 out of 20 votes of Aam Aadmi Party’s mayoral candidate Kuldeep Kumar to make him its mayor, then how much manipulation can BJP do in the 90 crore votes of the entire country in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections? The reality can be seen as what BJP had done in Chandigarh, pointed Dr. SS Ahluwalia.
