AAP writes DCP to punish ‘negligent policemen’ on Delhi woman death

In response to the murder of a 20-year-old woman who was dragged by a car for about seven kilometres, a group of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) lawmakers issued a letter to Delhi police Commissioner Sanjay Arora on Tuesday, seeking stern punishment against the “negligent policemen.” The leaders had already met with the top cop in Delhi to discuss taking “the strongest action against perpetrators.”

“AAP MLAs wrote a letter to the Police Commissioner to dismiss the policemen who tried to save the accused who raped Delhi’s daughter”, the party wrote on Twitter.

“There is a need for fear in the police as well that if the safety of the people is neglected then action will be taken against them. We demand that strict action should be taken against the negligent policemen,” the party added.

in the course of her inquiries into the horrifying incident, according to news agency ANI. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had already ordered Singh to deliver a thorough report “immediately.”

The 20-year-old woman was struck by a grey Maruti Baleno early on Sunday in Sultanpuri, outside of Delhi, and was dragged for around seven kilometres. When the tragedy happened, she was on a scooter.

Five men were arrested on suspicion of causing a death by negligence. They were all suspected of being drunk. The police added sections of culpable homicide that did not amount to murder against them later on Monday. Deepak Khanna, Manoj Mittal, Amit Khanna, Mithun, and Kishan have been named as the accused.

According to the police, the accused, during interrogation, claimed they were “not aware” that the car had been dragging the woman.

Meanwhile, the incident sparked sizable demonstrations in the national capital. Manoj Mittal, one of the arrested suspects, is allegedly a Bharatiya Janata Party member, according to the AAP.
