Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh and a Rajya Sabha member, filed a lawsuit in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court, alleging that ED agents attempted to take him from the ED’s offices to the Police Station Tughlak Road on the pretext that he might be subjected to torture. Sanjay Singh brought up the subject of his security and safety through his legal counsel.
According to the complaint, Singh was informed that the alleged reason for the relocation was the usage of pesticides at the ED headquarters’ jail when he inquired about the cause for the move. Singh added that it is incomprehensible that a prestigious organization has only one prison.
That even if pesticide was used in the lockup then he should have been shifted to another lockup in the ED HQ. When he resisted the attempt, he was made to sleep outside the lockup and subjected to inhuman treatment, the plea stated.
After taking note of the arguments, the court requested that ED remain on the application and will soon hear the case today. In connection with the now-cancelled Delhi excise policy or liquor scam case, the court ordered Sanjay Singh held without bail until October 10, 2023, on Thursday.
Sanjay Singh was taken into custody by the ED on Wednesday night after spending the day being questioned at his home in Delhi. After Satyendra Jain and Manish Sisodia, Sanjay Singh is the third important Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader to be detained in the case.
