The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has strongly condemned Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) allegations of BJP attempting to buy out seven AAP MLAs in Delhi for Rs. 25 Crore each as part of what the AAP calls Operation Lotus. BJP has said that this blatant lie has been spread by AAP in a pathetic attempt to gain sympathy for AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal before his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate on charges of massive corruption in the liquor scam, presently under investigation in Delhi.
Seven MLAs cannot help topple a government that has 62 out of 70 MLAs in the Delhi State Assembly. In any case, AAP will be thrown out by the people in the next assembly elections due in February 2025. There is no need to topple a government that is bound to fall under the weight of its own corruption and inefficiency in a years’ time.
“There is no such thing as Operation Lotus,” said Col. Jaibans Singh, Chief spokesperson, BJP, Punjab. “The propagandist media machinery of AAP always attempts to divert attention by playing the victim card when its leaders come under the scanner on grounds of corruption. This time, the leader involved is none other than their supremo, Arvind Kejriwal, and hence, the desperation is much more. It is for this reason that AAP has played the deceitful Operation Lotus card in Delhi,” added Col Singh.
While referring to a similar attempt made by AAP to discredit BJP in Punjab Col Singh said, “A similar deceitful narrative was attempted in Punjab earlier but it did not succeed since the AAP could not provide any evidence to support its false claims. Now, the party has attempted to do the same in Delhi, but people have already seen through its lies.” AAP remains involved in these evil self-serving politics while ignoring its duty of providing clean and efficient governance to Delhi and Punjab. As a result, people of these two states are suffering badly. The AAP leaders in Punjab are now following the footsteps of their seniors in Delhi and indulging in corrupt practices. Many have been caught pressuring people for money and sexual favours. Evidence of such activity has been provided, but the chief minister is not willing to take action. The people need to rise up collectively to expose the dishonesty of AAP and ensure that criminals are not allowed to get away by creating diversions. They should be punished as per the law of the country for their immoral activities.
