Surendra Rathi, the state spokesperson for the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has announced the invalidation of the tampering of ballot papers by the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) returning officer in the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation Mayor elections.

Rathi stated that truth has prevailed, and BJP’s deceitful actions have been thwarted. Despite BJP’s attempts to manipulate the ballot papers of elected representatives and impede AAP candidate Kuldeep Singh, the law in the country remains steadfast. Rathi emphasised that, although BJP wields influence over investigating agencies, the recent Supreme Court order reaffirms India’s commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and order.

The spokesperson mentioned BJP’s strategy of attempting to sway three AAP councilors through horse trading, with the expectation of regaining the mayor position in a re-election. However, the Supreme Court, upholding the principles of justice, deemed all votes in favor of Kuldeep Singh as valid. Rathi expressed confidence that with AAP holding the mayor position, they are poised to win the Lok Sabha Chandigarh seat as well.

Congratulating Kuldeep Singh, Rathi distributed sweets to celebrate the victory. Several party members, including Minority Cell Head Sahib Din, Vyapar Mandal President JB Dhariwal, Youth Secretary Vinod Kumar, and others, expressed their joy and celebrated with sweets on this occasion.
